Scoop Feedback:

October 13, 1997... CA was contacted by the production company about this film, an full-length independent film shot in Edmonton, Alberta. The production's current goal is to finish the picture (its in post-production right now) and get the film out to film festivals by late Spring/early Summer 1998. If all goes according to plan, a limited theatrical release will follow, and eventually home video release. A web site is being designed to promote the film and should launch in the near future. [Thanks to Al Horyn, Production Manager for the film, for informing us of the project!]

December 17, 1997... More news from the Daybreak crew. Post Production is currently moving very slow due to equipment complications. The possible 1998 spring release has been pushed up to a summer 1998 release in select cities, including major U.S. & European film festivals. Also, European distributors have put interest into purchasing the film.

The production is also designing an official Daybreak web site. The site will contain info on the filmmakers, cast, plot and have extensive multimedia sections which will include the film's trailer, a desktop theme for Windows '95, sounds, pictures, and an interactive game. We'll provide a link to the site when it's up n' running.

Also, a new book in the works on independent filmmakers and filmmaking called View from the Trenches may possibly contain an interview with Daybreak writer/director Randy Atamaniuk on the film's production. Atamaniuk is currently developing a spin-off/sequel to the film, with production slated for summer 1999 if all goes as planned. [Thanks to the gang at Daybreak for keeping in touch!]

November 3, 1998... The creators of Daybreak have contacted us with the latest news about their picture. Right now director Randy Atamaniuk and his crew are in the final stages of post production, but don't expect to see the movie anytime soon. They plan to hit the upcoming major American film festivals to generate buzz about Daybreak and, if all goes well and a little luck lands on them, they hope to have a limited release in Los Angeles and New York City. There also might be the possibility of the show playing in Vancouver and Toronto after that.

The film should be avaliable on home video by the fall of 1999, with a special edition of the film avaliable on DVD by Christmas '99.

There's also in the early planning stages for their next film, currently titled Bleed Into One, scheduled to shoot in Calgaryt, Alberta in June 1999. Atamaniuk is also penning a prequel to Daybreak titled Nightfall. There might be a few big stars popping up in the prequel if Atamaniuk has his way...

Finally, be on the lookout for the official Daybreak web site, which will be online by this Christmas.

[A big thank you to Randy Atamaniuk and the gang at Stainless Steel Productions for keeping us informed. Go get 'em!]
