June 27, 1996... Robert Sigman, the President and CEO of Republic Pictures, has presented the idea of a Beauty and the Beast feature film to a number of potential backers. The Republic marketing department has been instructed to begin heavily marketing Beauty and the Beast products in anticipation of the movie. Results of a fan survey regarding any proposed movie indicated that fans want Linda Hamilton to reprise her role and have any movie ignore the death of 'Beauty' in the television series that resulted in the death of the show.
