November 11, 1998... A script rumor we've been told: "I just read a report that said Brian Helgeland was hired to write a script for Bad Boys II. This seems highly unlikely, considering that he just won an Oscar for L.A. Confidential and made his directing debut with Payback. And you guys reported on him already having his next directing gig in place. I know he took a writing assignment to write a Sgt. Rock script a couple years ago-- but that was for Warners. Even if this announcement came before L.A. Confidential and Payback it still seems too low down on the food-chain for Helgeland." [Scoop sent anonymously.]
