December 7, 1997... Warner Books, earlier this year, signed up former Time scribe Michael Smith to develop the novel, with an impending movie deal reportedly on the horizon.  The book is expected to arrive in the fall of next year.

Now, as an interesting side note, there is a novel out that talks about a similar situation.  A private investigator son of a leading man and a movie star goddess wants to keep a major studio from making a sequel to his parents' famous film and says so in an interview.  Studio employees start dropping like flies and then the police begin to look on the son's words with some seriousness.  What does this mean to this particular project?  The author--Stephen Humphrey Bogart, son of Humphrey. The book is called The Remake of As Time Goes By.  And now you know...the rest of the story. [Scoop provided by 'Widgett'.]

October 13, 1998... It's true. The book has been released. The plot of the book has something to do with the characters from the first film traveling to Prague in order to kill Reinhard Heydrich, a Nazi. Also, backstories are provided for those people who feel everything needs to be explained to them, including the true identity and origin of the mysterious Rick. If all goes as planned, expect a screenplay to start up shortly. God help us all. [Originally appeared in CNN; reported by a very disgusted Widgett]
