Scoop Feedback:

February 22, 1998... [Thanks to Joe Hanna for sending us the press releases!]

February 23, 1998... A L.A.-based 30's-style big band, the Johnny Crawford Dance Orchestra, will be performing in the film. Johnny, himself a former child actor, told his crowd in early February the scene the band is featured in involves a visit to the 1930's. Our scooper says "This band is fantastic; they play the first week of every month at the Hollywood Althletic Club, in addition to other venues around town." Hey, a plug t'boot! [Sent in by 'themoth'.]

April 5, 1998... Gretchen Mol (Donnie Brasco, Girl 6) has joined the cast. [Scooped anonymously.]

August 18, 1998... We've been told the movie is based on a sci-fi novel that was titled Simlicron 3 in North America and Counterfit World in the U.K. The scooper also told us the novel was written by one Daniel F. Galouye from New Orleans in the early 60's "before much was know about artificial intelligence." Finally the scooper ends their email by informing that special effects are being done for the film in Germany. ['jingraham' sent us their thoughts.]

December 27, 1998... The film's Official Web Site has launched at www.thethirteenthfloor.com. From there you can check out the standard info, such as cast and crew credits and stills from the picture, but you can also play a simulation of the film's own virtual world set in 1937 Los Angeles. [Kris saw it first, but you can also thank 'The Honeybear Pipe' for making sure you got there.]
