Don't be so down on McD's -- They're not all bad! I have proof!

Maybe your McDonald's doesn't care, but mine does. You may be surprised that on our last crew opinion survey, our restaurant scored 96% Agree on the statement "Managers make my workplace fun and exciting".

I doubt this is anywhere near the average for all the restaurants across the world, and for that I feel sorry you the rest of you. But at my restaurant, it really is a fun place to work. It's too bad that so many people have such a negative experience.

I disliked your comment about "Quit, go to college, and get a real job". Well, that's what I'm doing a McD's myself. It gives me flexible hours so I can go to school, and still work the hours I want on the weekend.

You said that nobody cares about the McWorkers, they just care about making money. Well, the owner of our franchise is a really cool guy. Once I had a customer pissed off at me because his cheeseburgers only had one pickle on them (they're supposed to). He started swearing at me
telling me how dumb I am in a very colorful way. The owner happened to be walking into the restaurant when this started. He came around to my till, took out the money that the customer had paid, gave it to him, and told him to never come back again! Afterwards, he told me that nobody gets away with treating his crew like scum.

We have monthly draws where crew can win $25 for D/T times. (Your name get entered if they're low). You also win $50 for being Crew Person Of The Month (everyone in the restaurant votes). Another new incentive was a pair of movie tickets for having the highest number of cars in an hour. Yes this makes everyone work, but why not have fun doing it?

Every week, we have a new "special day" where we do something cool. One example was the head manager came in and made "customized" banana splits for everyone who wanted one on their break. It was a blast!

Another time we had a "swap positions for an hour" where the person who pulled the green marble out of the hat got to swap positions with the head manager for an hour. He gave the winner a shirt and tie to wear, and put on a crew uniform himself. Then the girl who won had him scrub all the baseboards in the store! It was hilarious, and everyone (including the head manager) had a great time.

Additionally, we regularly (one a month) have a crew function where we go to the movies, to the arcade, waterslides, or something for free. Anyone who wants to.

Finally, once a year, we have a big party at the end of the year. This includes a catered dinner (last year was by a local Italian restaurant), music (with a DJ), sleigh rides, prizes and more! I am only disappointed that I won't be able to attend this year -- I have a final exam early the next morning. :(

Anyways, I hope this shows some of you that McD's can be a fun place to work. If your restaurant is really that bad, maybe print this off and leave it somewhere so your managers can see it and maybe they'll clue in! Our restaurant is definately the place to be!
