Several countries in Europe, among them Sweden and I do believe England, have changed the their filtering routines to three times a day.
When you do this, you enhance the quality of the shortening and you add 1-2 days of longevity. You still have to observe the shortening to se if it has gone bad, but in most cases this is true.
When it comes to the peticular time, it is up to the individual store. Most stores in Sweden do it 9am, 3 pm and 9pm
