yeah, I did, and what did I see?

an ANTI-unionisation site. Written by pro-McDonald's workers and ASKING for donations.

It strikes me as funny that:

1. there are 'several hundred' of you - where were you all when the vote took place?!!

2. the ONLY aspect to your site is its call for money, whilst only tacitly giving any oxygen as to your reasons for being anti-union (a bit like your employers act in selling what amounts to watery meat in return for which they make billions of dollars worldwide - ie it's a CON.

There is not a single reason why your benefits should not continue with the presence of a union - in fact aren't they supposed to get better! YOUR discount cards, YOUR paid-breaks and YOUR opportunities are going to be defended by YOU and YOUR union. These 'concessions' (as you see them as concessions from McDonald's) are in fact part of your rights as a citizen - to think that McDonald's are soooo great because they give you paid breaks is naive - they give them because it would be difficult to defend any other policy. McDonald's and their ilk are notorious for behaving just inside the legal perameter of workplace policy whilst and at the same time looking for loopholes and exploiting certain 'vulnerable' workforces: such as students looking for pocketmoney, ethnic minorities and the young. This ensures they can maintain a low wage rate and a high turnover of staff (ensures no lasting union prescence).

3. NONE of your reasons as to why you don't want a union are actually about a union, they are about why it is soooo great to be with McDonald's - this smacks of fear, not preference. Your line:

"It is mainly for this last reason that we are opposed to the unionization attempt."

And what is this last reason? Well it appears as if ALL of your fellow employees were forced, harassed and bullied into signing up. Deserves you right then - if your bosses were so supportive and so great, then no matter what the harrassment they could AND SHOULD have 'protected' you from the vagries of ANY union (I'm sure McD's did their best tho' ...), perhaps you cannot bear to accept the decision of the majority of your fellow workers, perhaps you have been given encouragement to carry out your appeal and write your site and perhaps you are unable to see the potential benefits a union can bring by blinkering yourself with your employers line re: what the company has to offer you.

The funniest thing however, is without doubt the fact that you cannot get LegalAid - now where have I heard that before?!!!

All in all McUnioniser, I hope you get nowhere, your site gets barracked and the Teamsters prove you WRONG!!
