HI, I'm a two-year McD's crew, and most of the time happy with my job. But if you want examples of dodgy management procedures, Here's a corker... I was rostered to close on a sunday night, and we got absolutely thrashed- normally Sunday nights are quiet after 10pm, but on this particular occasion shitloads of people were coming through DT and FC, and I was the only crew out front. The manager helped out, but because there were only 4 crew in the store, and about 50 customers to serve there was waiting for ages... needless to say it took me ages to get my close done. As I was about to leave, the manager asked me if I wanted to work the next day, and I said" no, i have Uni.sorry" But she kept persisting, and really put the pressure on me by saying that 2 crew called in sick, and they really needed help. So I said Okay, but only for a couple of hours. She asked me to come in at 7am....and I know this is illegal.. so I said "but don't I have to have 8hrs or something between shifts?" My manager said that she would tell the opening manager to tell me not to clock on for my shift, and they would clock me on and off later on in the day.
The next morning The manager said that I should be getting time and a half for the shift, but as soon as she said that the closing manager rang and told her to bodge it so I wouldn't get paid. Let me tell you, that is the last time I'm doing any favours for that place. They made it seem like it was such a hassle for them to have to manually punch my hours in, even though I was doing them the favour.
