It seems highly unfair that a person would be dismissed on the grounds of their hair colour. But if there is a rule in the McDonald's handbook saying that hair should be a natural colour, and all workers are told this upon commencement, (and they are by receiving an "appearance SOC") then it's fair- it's their company so you've got to play by their rules too...unfortunately. Although, you could raise further philosophical discussion by asking "Just what exactly is 'natural'?" Blue hair COULD in fact look perfectly natural on some people! Try using that argument with your boss. he'll probably just give up and give the funksters back-area shifts.
