: Siamak, judging from the heat of the flame, I guess I pissed you off pretty good.

No mate, I am not pissed off with you personally. What pisses me off is the type of mentality that people like you represent. Most of us these days are so preoccupied with the perception of our own self importance that we completely ignore others' feelings and needs. The customer who abuses McD workers because s/he can get away with it is as ignorant as the worker who is rude and nasty to the customer. They both represent that lack of communal consciousness that is so widespread in modern capitalist societies and has caused people to develop very narrow, one-sided and pragmatic view of their environment. As far as the customer is concerned s/he wants to be served whether by a human being or by a well-behaved robot. Dehumanisation of employee is complete. What is worse is that we call this dreadful individualism and self-centrism democracy! Without social awareness real democracy does not exist.

: I've seen the best and the worst of people in the service industry. A lot of McD customers have voiced their dissatisfaction in this room, and the McDonald's room. Can you dismiss all of them as intolerant blowhards?

Not at all, on the conterary I think the service at McD is very poor by it's nature. So I am not surprised people have complaints. And I suspect most people don't go to McD for it's service anyway beause they expect it to be impersonal and conveyor-belt type. What they go there for is primarily the price and the image McD has worked hard to manufacture. When I worked there I was told the customer should not wait longer than 3 mins. to be served - 2 mins in queue and 1 min to get food - Now working at that sort of speed you hardly have time to be nice or nasty to people. That's why the synthetic smile and "have a nice day" comment has become such a joke because people know it is not heart-felt. There is no training at McD on customer treatment at all. All you are told is smile, take order and money, rush to serve and say "you are correct" whenever your work, judgement or behaviour is criticised. That's why you don't hear heated argument with customers at McD Mike!

: KuShanna does sound like someone who wouldn't be happy in any kind of working environment

I don't know and wouldn't like to say. I am not so quick at judging people on the basis of just a few lines.
