Nothing unusual about abusing employees

Those who have worked @ McD (and I suspect other fast food restaurants) find nothing unusual about the behaviour of the supervisor you have described here Sue. Lack of respect and abusive behaviour by managers are tacitly accepted as means of motivating and controling the crew. Of massive stress is another reason for abusive attitude. When I worked at McD, shouting and insulting the intelligence of the workers was a part of mananament training programme and you had to be seen to abuse your workers to get promotion and not to be regarded as sympathising with the crew. Wht's more, this has nothing to do with the state of mental health. I agree with Ted and it's highly possible that the person was showing off with her/his "staff management" skills to impress their superiors at the time you saw them in order to get promotion.
