To McD's Employees: Slavery defined and other matters

I keep reading all these posts referring to "slavery" and "McSlaves", etc.

But hey let's get real! Slavery is where The Man owns your ass! Meaning he bought you at an auction against your will and he works the hell out of you WITHOUT financial compensation! You are dependant on this guy for room and board...and food. Well folks, President Lincoln put an end to this shit [here in the States] over 130 years ago.

As for the shit pay and the work involved, what good is it doing you to piss and moan about it? You knew what you were getting into when you turned in your application and appeared for the job interview. The terms and the salary were very clearly stated.

A more constructive approach to resolving your concerns and problems is to get together (ALL of you), and talk it out with the management and owners. See what it's going to take to make better wages possible (without affecting the functionality of the store). If the supervisors and managers treat you like shit (and screw off themselves), again get everyone together, and take it up with the bosses. If no progress is made talk to the owners. Also, see if you can get ahold of your local regional office, if that becomes necessary.

I took down the address that Dee Isner quoted in the McDonald's room. If you're interested here it is:

Jack Greenburg, President
McDonald's Corporation
Kroc Drive
Oak Brook, IL, 60521

True, he may not give Jack Shit about any of us mortals...employees or customers...but there's strength in numbers. If he gets enough legitimate complaints from both sides flowing into his mail, then that might motivate him to act, if for no other reason than to shut everyone up so he can carry on in peace, and enjoy his five rounds of golf at the country club.

As for those of you employees writing posts to lecture and "educate" us customers on our "ettiquette", you're wasting your time. You're going to get the best and worst of people when you deal with the public, that's reality, and that's not going to change because your feelings are hurt. Again, take a look at yourselves before you start attacking the customers. Example, if you've been waiting at the drive-thru order station for over 15 minutes the temptation to use your horn to wake up that lazy party working the drive might overpower you. [Late-model Ford Rangers have nice loud obnoxious horns, just FYI.]

Well I've said my piece for now. Happy New Year.

Mike.
