corporate diseducation and self promotion

It is in no way necessary for industry to promote itself in this
way to 'put this computer in front of' the customer.
Also, education should be enabling children to learn about the
world from a balanced perspective. If they are learning about an i
ndustry, then obviously, it is desirable that there be a level of
commercial participation. However this kind of self-promotion is
not educational, in fact - as detailed in the press release -
diseducational. While I recognise that with education in its
present state, schools will inevitably wish to get funding
from elsewhere, there must be some degree of vetting if the
funding is to be tied to curriculum changes.
You might be interested to know that even in the light of
this, the local councils declined to set up a code of practice
for commercial involvement in schools.
