Rather than "Corporate Arrogance", it is my understanding that federal law requires businesses to legally pursue ALL trademark and copy right infringements or they leave the door open for major, significant threats to their brand. They are not so concerned about the Mom & Pop operation, but regulations say you must treat everyone the same. A company can not pick and choose who can infringe on their trademark. If they do not defend each case, another corporation can use this as a defense.
