: Seeing as the "Information" section to the Debating Room is closed, I was wondering if any of you out there could give me some info on how BSE has effected the sale of burgers at McDonalds and how they have tried to overcome this problem.

If I remember the correctly, the day the whole fiasco really erupted (when the Government went public with it), McD's announced that they wouldn't buy any more British beef until the issue was resolved.

Since then, they have started using British beef again (I think it was earlier this year they said they would lift their ban). So during the "crisis", they didn't sell British beef. Before it, and after it, they have. Since v-CJD has an incubation period of up to five years, the long-term effects of McD's buying policy is still unknown.

Gideon.
