a little 'space' in their otherwise hectic day

Whilst the injuries received were horrific, why is it the provider always gets the blame? I'm no particular fan of McDonalds (except a Big Mac once in a blue moon), but it seems they're ripe for attack at the moment. You have to look to the source, not just the event.

McDonalds provide play facilities, like a number of other large organisations, so that parents (etc) get a little 'space' in their otherwise hectic day. Also (let's face it), it's good marketing encouraging clients, in this position, to visit their outlets.

What you have to do with these 'free' facilities, is balance between the 'space' you get to stuff your face with burgers, or sit outside yourself & supervise your own children and accept the responsibility you took on when you became a parent.

An example would be the City who provides roads for cars, but it is the driver who must control his car, not the City.

I am not saying that you are a bad parent, or don't care for your child's welfare, but that it was your choice to go into McDonalds and use the facilities provided. You teach your children to look both ways when crossing the road, but now your child has taught you to look both ways when leaving them in a play area.

I do sympathise with your position, but leaving a 'minimum wage earner' in charge of my child, would NOT be an option. Whilst (possibly) willing, what would their training be? Minimum? There is only one choice... take your children to the counter with you, and then sit outside with them while you eat lunch. Sorry to upset you, but the only people who are responsible for our children are us!
