The ONLY function of Ronald McDonald, Joe Camel, the Budweiser frogs, "Jack" (of -in-the-box fame), etc. is to lure children into these death-trap products. "Sure grease and fat and tobacco and beer are tasty, and you can be just like your fat old man!"
