: I am not ceratin that i understood you Comrad. Sorry, please excuse my ignorance. Are you against communicm and capitalism and for socialism or is ti only capitalism that you have a problem with?

I am for an egalitarian society in which human values mean more than the value of the dollar, deutschmark, pound, krone or whatever. That makes me what may be called a socialist.

But I am against uncritically following socialist ideals that cannot effectively describe modern society, for it has changed since Das Kapital and the Communist Manifesto came out. To create a society based on equality, we must not focus on the interests of the working class as the initial ideal was for Marx, Engels, Bakunin and the like, we must seek to create an ideology which is flexible and able to change in the pace that society around it changes. As I tried to outline, the majority of modern Western society is made up of the middle class, which in itself is a product of the information age. When society advances to another era, the middle class will be replaced by another class to represent the majority.

It should be noted that when I use the term 'class' I am not referring to financial status (as known, marxism seeks to abolish that), but a type of personality. The type of personality in the indentured servants of the feudal era, the proletariat of the 1800's and the modern middle class are different, but all represent a reflection of the society they exist in. And while all people are unique, society does create a certain 'type' of individual. For example, note that the term of 'having no life' did not appear before the information age.

What is known as communism, as in the society where the means of production, social services and so on have been given to the people and are collectively owned, run and managed by those involved therein is a system I am wholeheartedly for. But Communism, as in a system that is based on the premises of the working class because "Marx said so" is a stiff, inflexible society that hasn't got much to do with the modern world.

Hope this cleared your question a bit up. Otherwise, feel free to mail me at simon_k@forum.dk as I am always ready for a debate.

-Comrade Simon, threat to democracy and proud of it.
