grave definition problems

This question holds a grave problem with the definition of "communism". Obviously communism in its original form (ie that of Marxism) is a far cry from the communism of oppression that Stalin implented. In fact for many the two are synonomous, yet whereas in Stalinism dissent is punishable, Marxism sees debate as healthy, essential even.
