R. D., my dear chap,
It is most fatalististic to place value only on material things. By doing this you inherently invite the "have/have-not" anxiety to dominate (and yes color) your outlook. The worldy things are not important. In fact, anything over and above the basics of life are merely surficial. I would hope that you agree with that.
What is important? Eternal life. That is, the reward that you receive after you shed this earthly carcass and all of its material possesions.
How is eternal life granted? Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, who came down to earth nearly 2,000 years ago, suffered and died for our sins, and has prepared a place for you and I.
R.D., if you can find a Bible please pick it up and study it. It will liberate you. If you find yourself inclined to discard the thought of reading it outright, I would ask, "Are you really seeking a free market of ideas and truth?" If you are honest with yourself, then give it a go! I will pray for you my dear brother that Christ Jesus will become the center of your life and hence grant you Real Hope. God Bless You.
