: I say uncontrolled capitalism is incompatible with environmentalism. Because capitalist production is based on profit maximisation. If it pays to chop down the rain forest to graze animals then they will do it as we can see.

Mostly the enviroment and profit coexsist. A smart capitalist would not slash and burn rain forest as it only economical in the short run. Aditionally their company would be branded by activist. In cases where the enviroment does not mix well profit you have to remember that the people are buying the products and profit goes down when they stop as Tracy put it...

: But by organising the workers say in trade unions and protesting, we are interfering with capitalism which, according to Mike Bednarz, would be "unconstitutional" (punishable crime?) Look how badly the big businesses react to public protest now.

God damn it, Siamak. Protest, boycots, and yes, labor unions, I consider the non-governmental controling elements of a capitalist system. In some of my other posts I defend unions, but you don't seem to bother to look at Fassbinders links, so what hope is there for me?
Unconststitional... that it is unconstitutional to write LAWS dealing with the free market. Unions are not government entities and could not be affected by legeslation as it is their freedom to deal freely. Also consumer unions and enviromentalist whacko, that is watchdog, groups would continue to exsist in such a capitalism.

I would also like see new types of unions form that are currently imposible in this constrictive mixed economy. Namly, shareholder unions. Like many other capitalists, I invest in the stock market, occasionally I read that a CEO gave himself such ridiculious stock options that when he eventually liquifies his assets it waters down the holdings of regular investors and deflates the stock. If Shareholders could run companies and collect profits more directly, without a CEO or bloated board of directors, the averge person might get the divedend he deserves. Markets deregulations would make such corparations possible.

: > As to the police, aside from the FBI and such, they are state, county, city
: > and township entities. How policing is handled would be left to the states and
: > their citizens.

: But Mike Bedarz who, like you, calls himself a Libertarian said that these forces will be privetised within the ideal Libertarian society.

Protection may be handled privatly, along with education and road maintainence, but evidence collection and analisys must be conntinued for the sake of the justice system and public information. Police forces must continue to exsist on thier respective level. (I don't think I ever mentioned anything about privatizing police)

: > Freedom WORKS, folks. Think about that word! Freedom! Don't tread on mine!

: As long as it is freedom from capitalist exploitation, repressive capitalist laws, money economy, society that is based on class ie. capitalist/working class.

Coming from someone that defends Lenin...
