: : : : : Again capitalism, money, "greed", "profit", "commodity lust": whatever you want to call it, produces inovation and technology.

: Novel writting and such creative outlets would continue in socialism. But what good is literature if people starve, stagnate, and labor becouse of lack of technology? I agree that 'non-hierarical' unions have been good for the capitalist world, but only the system of capitalism makes it possible. Has progress ever moved at this pace or thrift in all of history? No. The US and the hyper-free-market nations like it are leading the development. Not everything is done for the money, but without return on time investment, very little would happen at all.

So what is it exactly that is being said. That if every day you woke up with some streneous task in front of you (ie -getting into town 5 miles away to work) you would't want to think of some device that would make it easier? What about if your grandma were faced with such a task. Let the woman hoof it up the road, or create some sort of alternative. Is necessity not the mother of invention?
