I'm interested in the Hentoff book, but I would want to read it to see if it is the boast of a self-proclaimed "moderate" ideologue. Ideologues claiming to be free from ideology are pretty suspicious characters. Ideology is pervasive, it's everywhere where people are "talking politics." There's no form of political discourse that describes "how things really are" apart from an ideology.
