: : Half of your tax money goes to a bloated military establishment, and you're obsessed with a stereotype of welfare recipients who receive less than 1% of the Federal Budget. No wonder our elected representatives buy so many bombs while padding their own wallets. The voters don't know what's going on!: Uh, sorry, but no. Did you do any research? In 1994, $249 billion was used in defence funding. That includes every branch of the military.
This figure doesn't count the enormous debt the taxpayers are still paying due to past military expenditures. Here's the link.
:In contrast over $325 billion dollars was used to fund OASDI (old age, survivors, and disability insurance) alone in that same year. That doesn't include Medicare ($159 billion), Medicaid ($108 billion) and a multitude of other social(ist) programs. Knowing this, you can't tell me that half of my money goes to the "bloated military establishment."
Maybe if you're planning to die before you qualify for Medicare, or you're too rich to need it, you don't care... me personally, I don't qualify for the largesse doled out to the defense establishment, one of America's versions of socialism for the rich...
None.
