: "Savages, stop growing those ridiculous little subsistence crops. Sure
: you've done it for thousands of years without interference. But this
: is the millenium, and we're America, the most unnaturally rich and
: bloated nation in history. We didn't get that way by being happy just
: to feed ourselves. So here's what you do. Let our friendly corporations set up shop in your country. You'll work for us for
: enough money to keep yourselves alive and that's all. Any worker even
: thinking about a union will have an extremely unpleasant experience.
: When the peons are laboring hard for poverty level wages, those few of
: you with the requisite cruelty to be bosses will enjoy an excellent standard of living. The rest can ease their suffering with nostalgic daydreams about the time when there was enough to go around for everybody.

If that's what will make America strongest, that's what we should do. After all, a nation's sole purpose is to see that ITS populace survives/succeeds. What happens to everyone else is their own country's business.
