"Right-winger"? I'm actually middle-of-the-road. I didn't say that
everyone on welfare and foodstamps is a bum. I understand that there are
good people who need our help due to whatever bad circumstance comes to
pass. I don't mind helping someone get back on his/her feet. But, there
are many people who DO abuse the system! Single mothers who keep having
babies for the sole purpose of getting their benefits increased, people
who quickly learn how to manipulate the system to buy fancy cars and
houses, and gourmet foods. My brother once told me of a 300lb women
who paid for prime cuts of meat and other luxury foods...all with
FOOD STAMPS!!!!!! And then he saw her and an attendant loading it all
into a BRAND NEW CADILLAC ELDORADO!!! The latter examples are extremes,
but it is a fact that many of these "poor" people are able-bodied, and
content to live off those of us who work and pay taxes...and they are
not a goddam bit "apologetic" about it!!!

And finally, capitalism is the best system, capitalism works when
its participants operate in an honest, and responsible manner. And
profit IS necessary. The more profit you have, the better the cushion
that may be needed to pay your staff and meet your other overhead
if you experience a lean quarter or year. Even an idiot Texan like me
understands these things!
