I assume that this comment was put here simply to incite argument - I'm sure no-one is that naive or stupid - but then we do live in America...

Where would the doctors go. Doctors earn more in the USA than anywhere else in the world as it is.

One effect of this is that the USA spends more per capita on public health care than any other country - yet it fails to provide basic protection to those that need it the most (the poor, young, old, homeless etc), whereas countries like Canada, which spends LESS per capita than the US, provides total coverage for all. You need surgery, an expensive treatment - you get it - no deductibles, no cost ceilings, no lifetime or treatment type limits. You pay a small tax for this service - and if you're out of work, poor, handicapped etc., the government gurantees your coverage.

A second effect is that doctors try to move TO, not from the US, often because they're more interested in getting rich and fat rather than providing health CARE. This reduced QUALITY too.

Net effect: lower quality, adiscriminatory treatment and higher cost. I do not call this capitalism working.

Sadly, treatment for stupidity is not covered under most plans in the USA.
