communist theory

I believe that communism (if it can be called that) in practice is quite bad and the freedoms
that are apparent in a liberal democracy quite good. However, if one reads Marx, one finds that
Marx was not a man full of the hate that Lenin and Stalin had. He did call for a violent
revolution, but Marx was a philosopher, not a fighter. Marx wrote about a society where all
would be provided for and all pleased. He wrote that each man would be able to teach,
criticize, herd, and farm without ever having become a teacher, critic, herdsman, or farmer.
In other words, we would all be able to express all of our desires and wishes, and society
would have room for them all. What could be better? If only it could be raised beyond a philosophy...
