Firstly, I would like to say that i despise what the chinese are doing to their people,(e.g. shooting dissidents and billing the family 35 cents for the bullet) but I also want to say that things are better in china than when Chairman Mao reigned. For example there is an extremely high degree of social and economic mobility, people are receiving fairly cheap housing, and education is on the rise. Where do you think the Chinese government gets the money to pay for these programs (peace land bread), taxes from poor farmers in Szechwan? NO! They get the money from foriegn companies paying to use Chinese facories and workers. China sticking it to big buissness by beating them at their own game. What do you think would happen if China decides to say 'no more cheapworkers for you, so get out we're going our own way'. Electronics markets freeze corporations go bankrupt and China's people are in heated homes, eating westerners McDonalds watching how the Chinese are winning the economic war on... you guessed it western televisions. China wins, communism triumphs and people in the west are left wondering what happened. The asian nations have always been known for their patience. Give 'em a chance comrades.
