FREEDOM IN HISTORY

Posted by: GERARD ( DREAMERS, N.Ireland ) on January 13, 1998 at 19:24:17:

Marx was right history has been the history of class struggle and we do go through epoaches of different control but happens when a class fusion takes place and you get the workers thinking just like those that exploit them?

All through history man has sought to free himself from resraint.

Hobbes and Locke the liberty men who had a lot to do with the chief ideas of the American and French revolutions in their opposition of the state, monarchy and clericalism where opposing CONCENTRATIONS OF POWER in thier day which posed a definite restraint.

What they did not see was that new CONCENTRATIONS OF POWER where emerging with the new freedom. This time it wasnt STATE or INSTITUTIONAL TYRANNY but PRIVATE TYRANNY. PRIVATE TYRANNY that is corporates, monoplies, The company basically those who put profits before people.

By their own measure they prevent the freedom that was basic to liberalism, that which demanded that everyone had an opportunity to progress, you cant do that when you have a monoply or a chainstore beating you to a plup with competitive prices.

These new concentrations of power people are fighting a very concious class war, the media tells you how terrible unions and alternatives are, they employ standing armies of replacment labour to break strikes, they rig government and subsidies to pay them of. Remmber who gives the government money its you and me, you'd like to think we'd get some of that money instead of it all going to multi-nationals.
