We will probably see capitalism develop some sort of eco-fascism as it attempts to keep industries within ecological limits by imposing ever-stricter regulations upon individual human beings. It was reported today (12/29) in the LA Times that the National Marine Fisheries Service is imposing strict new catch limits on all sorts of fish. The industry predicts that all sorts of people will be put out of business by these new limits; I predict that the fish will continue to be overfished to extinction and that the National Marine Fisheries Service will respond with ever-stricter regulations.

At any rate, it will be important to get people to see that capitalism entails eco-fascism as a result of the eco-crises it creates itself, that the real subject of this Debating Room is "eco-fascism and the alternatives."
