Would the alphabet be created under Capitalism?

Well, Sprout... Do you think the alphabets around the World were created for personal rewards? (I can't imagine the inventors would get any personal reward) The invention of the wheel? Bronze and iron working?

Those very primitive, yet necessary for further development, inventions were created for the better of the collective, not for the personal gain of their inventors. I can't imagine the inventors of the wheel did that for a private enterprise or the promise of personal gain. The advance from stone-based technology to bronze-based wasn't a Registered Trademark either, so it would be safe to assume that these inventions have been made for the better of the collective the inventors were part of.
