I don't share the view...never have...never will.

It's my understanding that most of the Netherlands are in the toilet due to socialism, the former Soviet Union still has its wounds from its so-called Marxism/Communism ideals, and Cuba is a joke. Fidal Castro needs an M-80 shoved up his ass!!! That would make for a great Beavis and Butthead episode!

Under socialism, the people who actually work pay at least 70% income tax, and much of that supports lazy able-bodies (Holland, for example). Under capitalism, everyone has the opportunity to go as far as they can in life, as far as their perserverance and luck will take them.

Orville Redenbacher is a good example of an entrepreneur (great popcorn, the best!). Then there is W. C. Kellog and Mr. Post. How about Henry Ford (despite his dark side)? And don't laugh, but Hugh Hefner is another example of a man who came from nowhere. Some guys might actually read the articles in his mags...sometimes (Does the Playmate profile count?). [Someone else publishes a "hunk" magazine for ladies.]

True there are no guarantees under capitalism, but the U.S.A is in much better shape than any socialist/communist country you can mention. To a degree, I agree with Dan. We cannot have an "anything goes" system. But...maybe we'll be better off if the Federal Reserve backs off...meaning it doesn't pull any of that "slow the economy down" bullshit by raising its interest rates.

Actually, I think the Federal Reserve should be disbanded. It's a socialist-concept system. Its functions can be handled much better privatized..including printing currency, and insuring consumers' savings and checking accounts (Perhaps HIGHER than $100,000?).

Don't have anything nice to say? Post an answer and say it to me!

Cheers and joy!

Mike.
