It's not absurd. This thing about morals and ethics is brought up all the time on these pages, and if a person practices a certain religion then he has every right to justify his beliefs with examples taken from that religion.

And would you apply the same criteria to someone debating violence or the homeless. Would you say that the parables taught by someone two thousand years ago should have no bearing on what we practice today?

I've rather enjoyed the subject matter we've been discussing. It's much more enlightening than debating.....oh, let's see....if McDonald's food looks like a dog turd. See.
