MR. MORRIS: I am going to start by reading. I think there are
       just two admissions.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Before you do that, Mr. Morris, I am going
to say something about the scheduling. What I propose to
do is say what I have to say and then what I hope is going
to happen, unless anyone has any objection, is that it can
be transcribed as a separate ruling. Hopefully, I may be
able to check it during the midday adjournment, so everyone
can go away with copies this evening. If they want them,
       that is.

(Ruling followed - see separate transcript)

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Mr. Morris, I have got the notes which you
gave me on Friday afternoon, helpfully, as I have already
said. Are you proposing to carry on through those?

MR. MORRIS: Can I just say one point about the schedule?

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MR. MORRIS: As I understood it, on our legal submissions,
which we did not want to take up time on during these -
unless it was directly relevant to some of the evidence,
our two days for reply on law was part of that three weeks
where there would be legal submissions, and it was not just
on points that Mr. Rampton did not bring up in his written
submissions but it was also on points that he did bring up,
if we have submissions. We are trying to prepare, if
possible, written submissions on the law, obviously with
       advice on that.

So all I am saying is, when you said Defendants to reply on
law on matters that were not brought up by Mr. Rampton or
       something -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That is your strict entitlement, I am not
going to be hard and fast about that if there is something
which you can helpfully say to me. If you can bring in any
points of law as you go along through your submissions on
topics where it arises, do so. If you feel unable to do
that, and have the opportunity to get your legal
submissions written down, do that. It would help if you
can obtain it and then hand it into me in written form, and
we will see where we go to then.

MR. MORRIS: There is just one other point, which was that in
the ruling you just made there was a reference to Helen
having help with the references for the animal section.
She did not have any help doing that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is my misunderstanding of something she
said. I thought she said she had people reading the
transcripts; I therefore assumed she had got the references
from them and she was not sure what they were to.

MS. STEEL: That was for other subjects like nutrition, not
