Who we are
Kimera Multimedia is a Karisma trademark, that
designs, develops and publish educational and general interest titles
in digital forms. We produce and publish digital content on Internet
and CD-ROMs. Our products are currently avaiable in almost all Latin
American countries and used widely at schools and homes.
To develop Kimera Multimedia products we have
created a network with specialized institutions in pedagogy and
educational media (in Colombia, other Latin American countries and
Europe) and inidividual experts of different domains to work with. We
are also associated with qualified and multidisplinary team of software
engineers, graphic designers, industrial designers, sound and video
engineers etc.
What we do
Since 1988 the company has been developing innovative
multimedia solutions for educational purposes. We have witnessed and
participated of the immense changes that have taken place in the field,
and have evolved to take full advantage of the new educational,
communicational and technological tools in our products.
We produce mainly software geared to and designed for Latin
American needs and contexts; therefore we maintain an interest in
developing innovative materials that adapt themselves to the needs and
requirements of our pedagogical and technical environment. Several
products have been developed in close collaboration with organizations
devoted to the promotion and design of educational software in
different countries: Colciencias (Colombia), ILCE (Mexico), Joven Club
(Cuba), INCI (Colombia), IDEP (Colombia).
We also have a special interest in developing and adapting
multimedia content and material for special user groups: blind, poorly
-sighted, deaf and hard hearing children and adults. Several of our
products currently meet the requirements of these special groups for
example by containing material in sign language (spanish) and adaptive
colour paletes. (see our Catalogue
for more information).
Currently Kimera also publishes and edits products
from other companies, which complement our offer for the educational
market.
Services through Karisma
Karisma publishes and edits its own material as
well as third parties'. We have the necessary knowledge and expertise
to manipulate information for current digital book tools, e-books,
which may be required (.lit, .pdf or our own, .kim format). We edit
institutional and training manuals, and also handle interactive
presentations on the web (html, xml).
Under the Karisma brand, we provide clients with
the possibility to present their printed content (text and images) in
digital format (CD-ROM or Internet) and take advantage of the following
possibilities: search by word, copy, print, annotate, highlight, change
display and / or access to it on the internet. Such contents may be
complemented with sounds, videos, animations, trainers and evaluators.
Other programs may be called upon, so as to generate interaction and
fun activities. Additionally, we produce interactive CD-ROMs that
complement existing language, training and computer courses.
Our trajectory and experience have allowed us to develop
our own tools such as the "Karisma Reader" which is not only user
friendly, but also allows for an efficient and low cost production
process. Such advantages make it possible for us to work with different
editors who require new means of handling and presenting their texts,
with universities or institutions who need to preserve and distribute
different types of contents (research, books, polls, tutorials etc) or
promote and organize events, as well as with companies who require
training, promotional or entertainment material. It is important to
note that such products may be distributed (if needed) using Kimera's
and Karisma's distributing channels.
