CRV - Printing in Windows(R) 95 & 98 ==================================== NOTE: For general information about CRV see "CRV - Frequently Asked Questions" (crvfaq.txt). CRV will run just fine in Windows 95 & 98, but you may need to make an adjustment to Windows so that you can print. Before making any adjustments, check to see if CRV prints as is. If it does not, follow the instructions for either a local printer or a network printer. For a local printer, you need to make an adjustment to the printer's properties: 1. Click the Start button in the Task Bar. 2. Select Settings in the Start Menu. 3. Select Printers in the Settings Menu. 4. In the Printers window, position the cursor over the printer that you wish to use for CRV printing. 5. Click the right mouse button. 6. Select Properties from the pop-up menu. 7. Select the Details tab in the "Printer Properties" dialog box. 8. Click Port Settings... on the "Details" property sheet. 9. Uncheck the "Spool MS-DOS print jobs" check box in the "Configure LPT port" dialog box. 10. Click the OK button in the "Configure LPT port" dialog box. 11. Click the OK button in the "Printer Properties" dialog box. 12. Close the Printers window. For a network printer, you need to make a new printer object: 1. Click the Start button in the Task Bar. 2. Select Settings in the Start Menu. 3. Select Printers in the Settings Menu. 4. In the Printers window, position the cursor over the printer that you wish to use for CRV printing. 5. Click the right mouse button. 6. Select Properties from the pop-up menu. 7. Select the Details tab in the "Printer Properties" dialog box. 8. Write down on paper the information in the text box labeled "Print to the following port:". 9. Write down on paper the information in the text box labeled "Print using the following driver:". 10. Select the Capture Settings tab (if you have one). If you do not, skip to step 14. 11. Click the Capture Printer Port... button. 12. Write down on paper the information for the text boxes labeled "Device:" and "Path:" in the "Capture Printer Port" dialog box. 13. Click the OK button in the "Capture Printer Port" dialog box. 14. Click the OK button in the "Printer Properties" dialog box. 15. Double-click the Add Printer icon. 16. Proceed through the Add Printer Wizard. 17. When asked "How is this printer attached to your computer?" select the Network Printer option. 18. When asked for the "Network path or queue name:" enter the text that you wrote down from the "Print to the following port:" text box in step 8. 19. When asked "Do you print from MS-DOS-based programs?" select the Yes option. 20. When it appears, click the Capture Printer Port... button. Select the device that you wrote down from the "Device:" text box in step 12. Click the OK button. 21. When asked to select the "...manufacturer and model of your printer", select the type of printer that you wrote down from the "Print using the following driver:" text box in step 9. 22. If you are asked, select the option to "Keep existing driver". 23. When you are asked "Do you want your Windows-based programs to use this printer as the default printer?" make sure you select the appropriate option. 24. When you are finished with the Add Printer Wizard, the new printer will be added to your Printers window. 25. Close the Printers window. After performing either of these exercises, you should be able to print from CRV. You should not need to reboot Windows or your computer.
