Change the Properties of a Member

To change the properties of a member in your structural model:

  1. Click the on the
  2. Select the member you want to modify, either by clicking on the member itself or by clicking its entry in the Member List. The member will turn light blue to indicate that it has been selected.
  3. Click the drop-down button To on the for the property you want to change--material, or .
  4. Select a material, cross-section, or member size from the list by clicking on it. The new property will be assigned to the selected member.

Notes and Tips

To change the properties of several simultaneously, use multiple selection then choose a new material, cross-section, or member size from the appropriate Member Properties list.

To increase the size of all selected members to the next larger size, select the members you want to modify, and then click the To decrease the size of all selected members to the next smaller size, select the members you want to modify, and then click the If you use multiple selection with either of these buttons, the selected members do not all have to be the same size.

If you want to change the properties of all members in your , click the then choose a new material, cross-section, or member size.

When you change the properties of a member, the appearance of that member will change on the Drawing Board. Changing the material will cause the color of the displayed member to change; increasing the size will cause the width of the member to increase accordingly; changing the cross-section from a solid bar to a hollow tube will cause the displayed member to change from a single line to a double line, and vice versa.
