According to Research Machines' promotional literature, MMBOX2 is "...a Windows multimedia authoring package for the non-technical user, MMBOX is particularly suitable for people who wish to create their own high quality multimedia resources quickly and without needing to know any programming. In fact MMBOX has been used by 9 year olds to create their own interactive stories. With almost no programming skills it is possible to create an interactive presentation or learning resource incorporating pages of text; animation; speech, music and sound effects; pictures and video. MMBOX is fully compatible with Multimedia ToolBook so that resources created in MMBOX2 can be converted into a Multimedia ToolBook program. In this way you can prototype presentations/resources using MMBOX2, and add more sophisticated elements (e.g. multiple choice questionnaires) using Multimedia ToolBook facilities." You will need 4 meg of RAM, 3.5 meg of hard disk and super VGA. The demo version is fully functional, but limits you to authoring a maximum of five pages. You need the authoring version of ToolBook to run the MMBOX2 -> ToolBook converter. Academic version costs 79 pounds or 195 pounds for the CD ROM version.
