Welcome to Learn C Now!

         These disks contain everything you'll need to use the Learn C
compiler. They are intended to accompany the book Learn C Now by
Augie Hansen, published by Microsoft Press. Here's a list of the files
that the package contains:

Disk #1: LC.EXE        The Learn C program
         MSHERC.COM    Hercules graphics card support
         READHERC.EXE  Program to help you view MSHERC.TXT
         MSHERC.TXT    Information for using a Hercules card
         README.EXE    Program to help you view README.TXT
         README.TXT    (This file)

Disk #2: LC.OVL        The Learn C overlay file. This file takes over
                       after you start the Learn C program (LC.EXE).
         LC.HLP        The Learn C on-line help file
         WELCOME.C     A sample file you'll use in Chapters 1 and 2
         DOGGEREL.TXT  A sample file you'll use in Chapter 12
         \INCLUDE      The directory containing the Learn C header files
         \EXAMPLES     The directory containing the sample programs
                       listed in the book

Disk #3: LEARNC.COM    The Learn C on-line tutorial program
         LEARNC.CTX    Support file used by LEARNC.COM
         LEARNC.SOB    Support file used by LEARNC.COM
         LEARNC.SCN    Support file used by LEARNC.COM
         LC.PGM        Support file used by LEARNC.COM


Setting up the Learn C program:

         Refer to Chapter 1 in the book.

Backing up these disks:

         Do not use the distribution disks to run the Learn C program.
Use the MS-DOS DISKCOPY command to make working copies. Refer to the
documentation that came with your MS-DOS disks for instructions
on using the DISKCOPY command.
