Trail Blazer. Type: Chip Size (Kb): 100.018 Duration: 2:18 (Loop.) Copyright, June, 1992. This was the first commercial mod I ever did. It appeared in one of the very few things that the software team 'Alchemy' ever finished developing; a shareware game called 'Trail Blazer'. Trail Blazer was an Amiga remake of an old Commodore 64 game. The graphics were terrible, since they were done by the coder who is a terrible artist, but the game was really addictive. The story behind the mod is interesting. I was at a friend's place - this friend belonged to Alchemy, too - and we got a 'phone call with the message that a mod was needed for a game that was to be released for a competition in about 2 hours. I said, 'Can I see the game?' and the reply was 'No, I don't have it here.' I said, 'What's it like?' and the reply was, 'Well, it's hard to describe... It's got bouncing balls in it.' So, having no idea what I was doing, myself and my friend went on a great search for samples, since I didn't have time to go home and get my own collection. We found two really bad mods on an old disk of his, so we pinched the samples and I set to work. When I'd finished after half an hour, I hated the tune and everything it stood for, and so did my friend, but we did manage to get it to the coder in time for the game to enter the competition. We were no less than stunned when we looked at the game, because the mod fitted in _perfectly_ with the feel of the game, which was lucky, because it wouldn't have fitted in with anything else in the universe. Just one of those really weird things that happens every now and then. Oh, by the way, the game was disqualified from the competition, because it crashed during the judging. :-)
