How to mount and umount floppy disks and CD-ROM drives under Mandrake.

Under Mandrake, you can easily mount and umount your CD-ROMs and floppy disks as a non-privileged user, by a simple click!

Just insert a CD-ROM in your drive, click on the CD icon on the desktop, and you get its content displayed in KFM. It is the same with diskettes.

How to know if a device is mounted or not?

The CD-ROM is mounted. The CD-ROM is umounted.

In order to umount your CD-ROM and floppy disk drive, you must click on the icon with right-button, and select ``umount''.

Notes:

.
You must not eject your disks while the corresponding device is not umounted (risk of data loss).
.
You can only automatically mount DOS diskettes. You must use the complete ``mount'' command for other types.
.
In a terminal emulator, you can mount your CD and floppy devices with the commands: mount /mnt/cdrom and mount /mnt/floppy
