What can you do in case of a persistent problem ?

If you think that you have tried all the above solutions, or if your problem is not listed, first consult the extensive documentation available on the Web (FAQ, archives of discussion forums with Dejanews). The Mandrake site contains a large number of links to these documents as well as a general errata. Also consult the references listed at the end of this manual.

If this does not help either, it is perhaps time to use Mandrake installation support (fax or e-mail). Here are the correct steps to take:

Details of the problem.

It is important to describe precisely the problem: when did the problem occur ? can you reproduce it ? what's going on exactly ?

It may be useful to swap between the ``log consoles'', in order to pick up additional information on the problem. You can swap between the consoles with the alt+f3, and alt+f4 key combinations. Write down the last 10 lines.

Then state your problem, in a clear and precise way, using the above information.

Contacting the Mandrake installation technical support.

First of all, you need to register. Follow exactly the instructions written on the registration card, included in the Mandrake PowerPack box. As soon as the registration procedure is complete, send an email to install@linux-mandrake.com with your registration number in the subject of the message. All messages with an incorrect registration number will be ignored. If you are using a fax, send your paper to the number reported on your registration card, and do not forget to mention your registration number.

Be aware that the quality of the answer from technical support is linked to the accuracy of the description of your problem. Note that it is only an installation support. If you wish to have more support, you will have to subscribe to an additional technical support contract6.1.

Then wait...

You will have to wait for a reply from the installation technical support. The delay could be from 20 minutes to 24 hours, depending on the service workload.
