You will be asked whether it shall create an entry in the start menu. Please refer to the helpfile for further information. SHORT MANUAL ============ General ------- The left list shows either samples or bitmaps that are contained in the executable file. (Change the view by clicking on the corresponding page selector). You load an exefile by clicking on the Open button. The right list is an audio or bitmap file browser. By clicking on the folders, you change the current folder. Additionally, you have the toolbar buttons "Browse Dir" to change directly to another folder or to change the drive, "Dir Up" to change to the parent folder and "Refresh" which reloads this folder. Further help in navigation are the bookmarks which work like in a web browser. Wavefiles have a yellow icon, AIFF files are blue. Especially we encourage you to try all functions. They exlain better than words what they do :) Step by step ------------ 1. Open a Rebirth.exe. If you have installed Rebirth properly, it also appears as shortcut in the file menu. 2. To view a bitmap or listen to a sample, click on it. (Enter or Space does it, too) 3. Now browse in the right list to a folder where you have stored bitmaps or samples for replacement. 4. Drag from the right to the left list the file you want to replace. Upon successful replacement, the icon changes. 5. Repeat step 3 and 4 for every bitmap and sample you want to replace. 6. Save the new file by clicking on the Save button. Note: You can't overwrite the currently open file. 7. Start the program by clicking the Run button. Gimmicks ======== You can change the names of the resources in the left list by "click and wait" (like in the explorer). These names are saved to the ReNovator.ini file. They will be reloaded automatically when opening the same exe again. To save samples that are contained in the exe to the current folder, drag them into the right list. The created files will be named like in the left list. In order to save all bitmaps or samples with their "original" resource numbers, click in the Resources menu on Extract all. To change to the folder of a replaced resource, simply double-click on the item in the left list. To detach a replaced resource and make visible again the original resource, click right on the item in the left list and choose detach. The most important functions are doubled in pop-up menus. LIMITS ====== No automatic conversion of audio files with another format than in the executable.
