GmEdit version 0.9 Readme.txt file 9-10-98 Copyright 1996-1998 Monolith Productions, Inc. GmEdit is an UNSUPPORTED level editor for Monolith's arcade-action game, "Get Medieval". -------------------------------- SPECIAL NOTES ABOUT THIS RELEASE This is not the final version of the Get Medieval editor package. We will be creating a more detailed help file as well as providing template levels for each tileset. *** We're releasing the editor early because of popular demand. Currently, we are swamped with shipping three other products and because of that we won't be able to provide a lot of help with the editor during the next few weeks. *** Once we release the enhanced help file and all of the template levels, we will be providing more support via the GM forum and email. Until then, you are on your own...good luck and please help each other. Again, this is a pre-release version of the editor package, so you are on your own...until we release the full version with the big help file and template levels. Have fun! -------------------------------- INSTALLING GMEDIT Unzip all files contained in the GmEdit.zip file into your Get Medieval "custom" directory (default is \games\medieval\custom). Because the editor requires access to the medieval.rez file (medieval.rez is the resource file for Get Medieval levels), you MUST have the medieval.rez file in your install directory. The medieval.rez file is copied to your install directory when you do a full install of Get Medieval. -------------------------------- RUNNING GMEDIT Double-click on GmEdit.exe to start the editor. HIT F1 to access the online help. GmEdit is fairly complex, so you WILL NEED TO READ THE HELP FILE!!! Use "Tile Mode" to place tiles. Press Ctrl+Alt+F to "fix-up" the tiles. Use "Object Mode" to edit and place objects. Monsters and spawners are only available on specific dungeons...consult the help file for more info. Placing a monster on an invalid dungeon number will probably result in a crash. There will be a more complete help file available soon. --------------------------------- PLAYING YOUR LEVELS Once you are finished creating a level, run Get Medieval and select "New Game" from the main menu. Next, select "Local Game". Next, select "Custom Dungeons" and choose your level from the list. --------------------------------- MORE INFO ABOUT GMEDIT For more information about Get Medieval and the forums, check out the Get Medieval web site at http://www.getmedieval.com For more information about Monolith Productions, check out our web pages at http://www.lith.com
