Pat Saleeby, age 86, passed peacefully of natural
causes at her home in Raleigh on Thursday, October 31, 2013. She was
surrounded by family, friends and caregivers. A wonderful wife,
mother, grandmother, great grandmother and the light of her
husband's life, Pat was the only child of Timothy and Margaret
McKenna of New York City.
Born in Queens, NY, Pat worked on Wall Street for Merrill Lynch
early in her career, and she ultimately retired from GE Capital in
Raleigh. Pat was the wife of Frederick John Saleeby for 63 years.
Pat is survived by her five children and their families Fred
Saleeby, Jr. and wife Marilyn, Karen Rice and husband Dan, Tim
Saleeby, Bryn Townsend and husband Norris, and Reid Saleeby and wife
Karen. Pat had six grandchildren and two great grandchildren whom
she loved dearly.
Being an only child, Pat embraced and was loved by
her extended family and in-laws. She is survived by her cousin
Dorothy Donohue of Raleigh and Dorothy's daughters Diane and Gail,
and sisters-in-law Claudette Petty and husband Jim, Shirley Willett
and husband Michael, and brothers-in-law Mitchell Saleeby and Ralph
Saleeby.
Pat enjoyed frequent trips to her second home in
North Myrtle Beach, SC where she had many happy memories with Fred
and their family. Pat had an infectious personality and stunning
smile, and always saw the good in everyone she met. Her favorite
pastimes were spoiling her grandchildren, shopping at yard sales for
her children and Sunday family dinners. Pat was a devout Catholic
and gave tirelessly of herself to friends and family.
