Change message encoding used to send messages in other languages
Microsoft Outlook automatically selects the encoding (character set) for messages you are sending. However, sometimes the preferred encoding will not work for a specific character set. In that case, you need to manually change the encoding.
Do one of the following:
Change the encoding for a specific message you are sending
This feature requires you to be using Microsoft Outlook as your e-mail editor.
- Make sure automatic message encoding is turned off.
How?
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Mail Format tab, and then click International Options.
- Under Encoding Options, clear the Auto-Select encoding for outgoing messages check box.
- In the message you want to send, on the Format menu, point to Encoding, and then click the option you want.
Change the preferred encoding for all messages you send
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Mail Format tab, and then click International Options.
- Under Encoding Options, clear the Auto-Select encoding for outgoing messages check box.
- In the Preferred encoding for outgoing messages list, select the one you want.
