AUTHOR:Paul Edwards CATEGORY:psi COMMENT:This will probably be the skeptical book on reincarnation for some years to come. Edwards brings up just about all worthwhile arguments against karma and reincarnation, and more often than not succeeds in making reincarnation look ridiculous. He includes conceptual arguments like those from the dependence of consciousness on the brain, and the fact of population increase, but also examines the quasi-scientific arguments put forth by reincarnartion proponents. He extensively critiques the ideas and "evidence" of S. Grof, E. Kubler-Ross, Moody, and Ian Stevenson. Edwards's arguments are usually applicable to survival claims besides reincarnation. The book is enjoyable to read, and a must for getting the skeptical side on this issue. DATE:19990629 KEYWORDS:survival MISC:313p.
