Basic Security

• IDS doesn't help you if you're not doing Basic Security correctly

• Security is a PROCESS, not a PRODUCT (or group of products)

• Run only the services you need

• Use strong passwords and encryption

• Install software patches and IDS updates

• Scan and audit systems regularly
